Bonjour,

I pray that I am able to relay this as simply as possible and that your heart would grasp what the Lord is saying to you. One night in December of last year, 2016, I had a vision. I don’t know if I should call it that. But what happened was this: I was in between consciousness and sleep. I was meditating on another vision I’d been given the previous year, one I was yet to decipher… when I heard these words loud and clear, spoken to me in plain English — it was a riddle. At the same time, it came as a thought; it said:

“The birth of a secret is the unveiling of ten thousand mysteries!!”

Hmmm. I won’t lie to you, I still do not have an interpretation for this vision, prophetic riddle or mystical occurrence. But here is why I am making reference to it.

My life is a myriad of what I’m about to speak to you about this morning, and in over 30 days now, I have witnessed close cascades of these bizarre occurrences unravelling in my life. It’s like watching a movie and at the same time watching the scenes play out in the natural through your daily life. Think about that a moment.

Okay, its weird I know but stay with me.

I have this culture of keeping a journal. I have stacks, and stacks of them! And from time to time when I go through them I experience the most explosive of moments— eureka moments, epiphanies, aha-moments, breakthroughs… I’m at a loss for words here. The fact is I am completely BLOWN AWAY!!!

Also, in these journals are prophecies, dreams, visions, that have come to me in various forms. And from time to time as I go through my journals (led explicitly by the Holy Spirit; story for another day), I see fragments and pieces of these records of prophecies, dreams and visions etc. piecing themselves together in my daily life in sometimes very bizarre occurrences but mostly through almost insignificant events.

When these things happen, I realise how every single moment of my life is either  a letter, a word, a verse or even a punctuation out of the volume of the books God has written of me to live by.

Was that too much to chew?

Well, what I mean is: God is in the pages of our lives writing out His eternal thought, purpose and plan through our daily experiences. And every moment counts!!! Question is, are you paying close attention?

Habakuk 2:2-3

And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, so that he may run that reads it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false: though it lingers, wait for it; it will certainly come, and will not delay.

Bonjour,

Bible scholars tell us that the original manuscripts of  Matthew 7:7 goes, Ask, don’t stop asking and it will be given to you. Knock, don’t stop knocking and the door will be opened to you. Seek, don’t stop seeking and you will find.

If that is true, then I understand why the Bible says that God is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Which is to say He rewards those who do not stop but continue to seek Him.

This never ending longing for God is what God can not help but reward. A hunger and a thirst that He absolutely cannot ignore.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.

Psalm 81:10 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

Little wonder, He promises the crown of life to those who persevere under trial because the proof of desire is pursuit. And unending pursuit does not come without a price. That price is the true test of our love for Him.

Therefore, because we love Him we pursue Him, and because we seek Him continuously, we endure the trials that come with this pursuit.

And for this reason, He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. He is the rewarder of those who seek and do not stop seeking Him. So that the one who hungers and thirst for righteousness and the one who endures under trial are one and the same — they are Blessed of the Lord!

Hebrews 11: 6c … He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

Selah.

Pure Joy

Consider it pure joy when we are faced trials (hardships, sufferings, tests) of many kinds!                                                        Photo Credit: Google images

I am learning a new meaning for suffering, hardship, trials, tests. And O, how it fills my heart with joy indeed. No wonder the Bible says in James 1:2 that we should consider it pure joy when we are faced trials (hardships, sufferings, tests) of many kinds! Wow. Think about that a moment. Why would James say that to us?

Bonjour

As we begin to round up our work here in Yenagoa, I begin to appreciate the hardships we faced. Getting the job done wasn’t easy. At some point I had to choose between disagreeing and being miserable or keeping the peace and making progress. I chose the latter of course but it wasn’t an easy decision. It was a slow, and painful process that had me writhing in suppressed fury. The shoes of leadership can be discomforting and uncomfortable. But if we must lead with grace then we wear it and bear the cross.

In the end, it pays off. When there is collective harmony and progressive success, you soon forget the pain, and fury soon gives way to good humor. And the result of a job well done is reward; reward that fills your heart with pure joy! However, in the beginning it doesn’t feel anything like joy when you are being antagonized, misunderstood, mistreated and pushed to the wall. You’re like, whaaa-thaa!

You want to flip, summersault, show your true color, let out words of fire and brimstone. You want to read out your rights and your entitlements. But James tells us – No, that is not the way to go. He says, rather, consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2-3

Now here comes the shocking part: Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him. – James 1:12

Are you hearing what I am hearing? James says, God will give the crown of life to those who love Him. NOT to those who persevere under trial. Or isn’t that what it means? However, he substitutes “those who persevere under trial” with “those who love Him.” What that tells me is that A=B & B=A! It is called substitution. Both entities are one and the same.

What that means is that trials are a test of your love for God!! WOW! Therefore, if you are going through diverse trials, it is a test to see if you truly love God. If you give in, God doesn’t mean much to you, only the pleasure of momentary relief. But if you persevere, then your love for God is true. And when perseverance finishes its work, you become mature and complete. James 1:4

Isn’t that amazing! And O, what bliss indeed when the crown of life manifests!

So be encouraged dear friends. Are you going through diverse kinds of trials? Let not your heart be troubled. Consider it pure joy, for the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And those who persevere under trial shall receive a crown of life. What pure joy indeed!!

Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  – James 1:4                                                                                                                                                           Photo Credit: Google images

Bonjour,

In the last couple of days my faith has been tested, and every time I find myself at wits’ end. Last night I came to a conclusion. This is a test. And this is temptation. Look how I have continued to fail. Do I really want to be like Jesus – inside out?!!

Or do I just want to be a super star; hardened and stiff in her ways.

I find myself demanding my right lately. Wanting what I want, and going after it with all zealousness. Is that what Jesus would have done? Did he pursue with all zealousness what He wanted?

Are you pursuing what you want, are you demanding your right?

I find myself resisting the fiery furnace lately; resisting vehemently oppositions and misunderstandings. Instead of meekness I display anger. This is entitlement. Did Jesus feel entitled? If He did, then He couldn’t have gone to the cross willingly. What am I becoming?

Are you resisting oppositions? Are you demanding your right at all times? Or are you allowing patience to have it’s way in you?

I’m tired of resisting the Holy Spirit, so I repent. Let patience have it’s way in me. For the Fruit of the Spirit is …Patience.

Listen to this: When we resist the work of love or patience or temperance, or perseverance, or kindness or goodness etc. in us, it is not just the process we resist. We actually resist the work of the Holy Spirit. We refuse to be changed from inside out. We resist becoming like Jesus.

James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Welcome to November guys. This month let your heart desire be to surrender all in obedience to Christ. Just like Paul. For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles- Ephesians 3:1

Hello,

Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God Romans 1:1

Paul had very interesting ways of describing his relationship with Christ. Ways that have probably scared a ton of us out of our skins. Paul would say, I am crucified with Christ, or I, Paul, a bondservant of Christ Jesus, or I, Paul, a servant in chains… Paul constantly boasted about his chains and his sufferings and how they were his medals for being a Christian.

It is not so today. We boast in prosperity and in our comfort zones. We forget that the scriptures teach us that when we suffer, we should take comfort in the fact that Christ suffered too. It doesn’t categorically say that because Christ suffered, we will NOT suffer. Rather, it says that because He suffered, we can be comforted in our suffering.

Today, I encourage us to hold on a little longer in that state of debasement; of being ridiculed, of being disregarded, of being mistreated etc. It comes with the price for following Christ.

Our journey into God is a journey to captivity. Of total surrender. Of losing ourselves into Him. Whilst receiving comfort in our sufferings.

Because He too suffered. And because He overcame, we TOO would overcome.

Hebrews 2:18
Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.

Hebrew 4:15-16
4 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15
This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Selah

Bonjour,

Back here in Yenagoa, our work started with a major challenge! Rain! Rain! Rain! Our guide will say to us- Ha! Welcome to Bayelsa, it rains without warning. So my initial worry was- Ha! When are we going to finish this work and when are we going to leave?

So I sent messages to a few friends telling them the situation and asking them to pray. I asked for clear weather. I specifically remember saying to the Lord in my prayer- it can rain after our work is done for the day but not before. And funny that day, it actually did rain after we had retired to our hotels.

But something wasn’t quite right. We had hazy clouds, and there wasn’t quite sun light. So it wasn’t a good enough weather for the photographers.

This was a set back because we would be out all day and do very little because the weather wasn’t favorable. This went on for days. I got so frustrated- something had to be done about this. Then after calling up a friend and praying together over the phone- making declarations over the weather- I still felt the need to make specific declarations. So, I said emphatically- Angelic Princes of Bayelsa, I summon you. I need blue skies and sun. Give me blue skies and sun. I need my work to go on. No delays. In Jesus name.

Then I went about my work for the day. I did a few interviews which took the whole day. The next day we were going out to the field and the guys were like- Bukkie if the weather is clear then we will shoot.By the following morning, my colleague calls me and says, we can go out now. The sun is out.

I looked out the window, and behold, there were blue skies and sun! I was thankful. Just thankful at first, then I remembered the day before and the declaration I had made. I also remembered writing in my prayer journal, these words:

Lord, I wrote, Remember Aime Semple McPherson, she caught a cloud in a bottle for her kids to play with. Lord give me blue skies. And Lord, thank you for holding back the rains!! I love you.

This journal entry was on October 27th and I made the declaration on the same day. And on the 28th I had blue skies and sun!

There wasn’t a single complaint from the crew. Except that they were tired and so took two breaks. My heart is filled with gratitude.

So, please, I beg you. When in a tight corner, it is not the time to yield to the challenges. Rather, it is time to engage!

Selah.

Isaiah 37:36 Then the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning–there were all the dead bodies!

Joshua 10:12 On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

A friend of mine once  shared these words.. and today I borrow her words…

The soul is on a journey to captivity. The soul was created to be a captive. A captive of sin or righteousness. Either way you are a captive.

I’m on a journey to captivity. I’m on a journey of no return.

Songs of Songs 4:9 You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.

Meditate on these words today. Ask yourself, what are you captive to? Or whose captive are you?

Are you a captive to modernization and civilization that you do every thing properly but live properly? Or are you a captive to your emotions and your innate desires?

Search your heart today… whose captive are you?

To be continued…
